Housekeeping

It has been brought to my attention that there is a company in the UK who has been producing lingerie under the name Starkers, which is in NO WAY associated with us. We cannot vouch for the quality (we are aware that it’s factory made in Thailand, as they keep CC’ing us on their specs and bookwork, lol!). They have been producing lingerie under this name for some time. We are not responsible for any lingerie under this label. Our lingerie is produced in house in Toronto Canada, since 1992,…

Undressed Lingerie

After much preparation, we are just about to launch our mini lingerie line, Undressed Lingerie! After years (two decades, to be exact), of requests from clients to have not only matching bras and panties to go with their custom made corsets, but just some cute bras that can fit any size – very small sizes, very large sizes, asymmetrical sizes, bras for men (oh, yes) and every size, shape and structure in between – we have developed bra pattens ranging from AAA cup to H cups, and no more being sized out…

Mesh corsets are here!

After a fair bit of experimenting, we are now offering mesh corsets! This is a great, lightweight alternative to our regular corsets. These are single layer of super strong corset mesh, with reinforced silk bone cases, and floating modesty panels. The mesh is available in black or white, and unlimited piping colour, and decoration options. This option is available in any of our corset styles or custom styles. We will be offering in the fall, built in bra cup options for the sheer corsets. Book your custom design now! Here is our…

FashionArtToronto 2015

We have just come down from our 9th year at the amazing FashionArtToronto event. We presented our 2015 Bridal / Formal line. Our line this year focuses on elements of fashion from the Edwardian era, when fashion first became fashionable in Toronto, which was growing fast as a cosmopolitan city. Clothing was manufactured in Toronto factories, and created by personal dressmakers and tailors. Attention to shape, detail and embellishments were featured in women’s clothing, in this time post-Victorian era fashion, before the shorter hemlines and looser shapes of the Roaring…

Corsets for Fitness and Figure Competitors

Corsets for Fitness and Figure Competitors About a year ago, for fun, I acquired my personal training certification, as I’m almost as obsessed with fitness as I am with corsets. I wanted to learn more, and I learn best by observing and teaching. Over the past 12 years, I have spent a lot of time around fitness people, competitors, instructors, and I’ve been lucky enough to learn from PhD’s in exercise physiology and nutrition. I have learned a lot, and I’m hoping to teach people a few things too. This…

Starkers Corsetry Fashion Show at |FAT| 2014

We are excited to announce our line “White Space Conflict” will be presenting at |FAT| 2014 on April 22 at 8:50 pm This is our 8th year with |FAT| I love playing with contrasting materials and themes. My line for FAT 2014 this year  incorporates animal skin texture, and nature inspired themes, mixed with aspects of technology, and some 3D printed pieces! This is to create a mixture of organic and technology, which is stepping more into sci-fi than I’m entirely comfortable with. Don’t miss it! Tickets available at…

Putting Together A Practical Drag Queen

Putting Together A Practical Drag Queen Sheila Rhiannon Over my eleven years of practicing gender illusion in Las Vegas I’ve learned some interesting things about femininity and womanhood.  Sheila is a singer and entertainer but she also maintains a consistent style and personality.  Eventually I learned that Sheila is a tribute to women and all I appreciate about femininity.  She is about drag as art, expression, style, curiosity and love.  Practically speaking I’ve had to learn a whole list of things most men never ponder. Who knew presenting myself, as a female…

Custom Made To Measure Corsets Vs. Off The Rack Corsets

Corsets have been steadily gaining popularity in all forms of fashion, from club wear, to high fashion, through to bridal and fetish wear. With the increased popularity, comes increased demand, and many companies popping up offering corsets. Many skilled custom corset makers have come on the scene in recent years, as well as many more companies also offering “custom corsets”, which for them, can mean offering a corset style in both blue AND black. Then there are the companies offering corsets made in China for $25. How does someone choose?…

Corset Tight Lacing

Typically, a corset will take ones waist down by 3″ or so, depending on height and other measurements. This is the average waist measurement that we have seen overall. Tight lacing involves lacing ones corset down to gradually achieve an unusually small waist measurement for one’s size. This also, typically involves wearing a corset for several hours each day, often sleeping in a moderately laced corset at night.  While tight lacing, either extreme or moderate is definitely not for everyone, or even a very common practice, there are some points of…
